Residential Conveyancing Vacancy

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Conveyancer to join our busy Residential Conveyancing team in Chester le Street, Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working within a Residential Conveyancing team.  You will assist with, under close supervision, the running of a caseload of mixed conveyancing files.  The successful candidate should be fully proficient in all Microsoft packages.  Previous experience of a case management system is desirable; however, full training will be provided.

The successful candidate will be responsible for dealing with any incoming telephone calls in a professional and timely manner.  You will be responsible for recording all messages accurately whilst ensuring the messages are also transferred to the paper files.

You will assist with the running of conveyancing procedures on the firm’s case management system (Liberate) under the supervision of a conveyancing manager.

You will be required to capture information / data onto Liberate and run post completion procedures as required.  You will be required to record incoming post onto Liberate, marrying the daily post with the correct files.  In addition You will be required to highlight all matters which require urgent attention and ensure that you maintain both your personal diary and that of you line manager to ensure that client appointments are arranged in a timely manner.

You will be required to maintain the filing system to ensure all dead files are closed / archived within a reasonable period of time, bringing to the attention of the conveyancing managers any balances which require attention to allow the procedure to be completed.

Wealth Management Vacancy

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Administrator / Trainee Paralegal to join our busy Wealth Management team in Chester le Street on a full time basis (Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week).

Due to the nature of the work and client service level agreements in place the need for overtime may arise.  The successful candidate should therefore be flexible in their approach to work in terms of working additional hours.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the drafting of wills, lasting powers of attorney, oaths, estate accounts, invoices and Land Registry forms.  In addition you will be responsible for arranging appointments, conducting bankruptcy searches, obtaining office copy entries via the Land Registry and for keeping up to date records.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring key dates are recorded in line with Lexcel requirements, ensure the fee earners have the relevant files to hand and ensure that fee earner diaries are kept up to date with scheduled appointments and tasks.

You will be responsible for taking initial instructions from the client in the absence of a fee earner, ensuring that clients are fully aware of our client care code of conduct.

Previous experience of a case management system is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided

The successful candidate will have the ability to deal with clients courteously and expeditiously, promoting a favourable image of the firm.   The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively as a team and be able to communicate professionally at all levels across the firm.

You will be responsible for opening and closing files, ensuring the firms Will bank is kept up to date and keeping up to date records on the firm’s electronic systems.

You will be required to ensure that you are fully aware of all legislative changes, practices and procedures relevant to your duties and for the provision of regular updates to your colleagues.  You will also be responsible for your continuous training and development in line with any professional requirements.

Commercial Property Paralegal / Legal Assistant Vacancy -NEWCASTLE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dual role of Paralegal / Legal Assistant to join our busy Commercial Property team in Newcastle on a full time basis (Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week).

The successful candidate will contribute to the effective working of the Commercial Property team by providing secretarial support to Gordon Brown, Richard Brown and one other fee earner.   In addition You will accept and handle tasks on commercial property files in order to maintain the quality and efficiency of legal services offered to our clients.

The successful candidate will have recent experience of supporting fee earners in a Commercial Property environment.

Secretarial Support

You will be responsible for fielding telephone calls, emails and queries in a timely manner, ensuring that employees, clients and referrers are provided with an efficient and courteous level of service at all times.  You will be personally well organised, demonstrating an awareness of needs and priorities.  You will be responsible for the timely and accurate typing of reports, documents and general correspondence.  You will be responsible for the maintenance of office systems, including filing and data management.  In addition You will be responsible for organising meetings via Outlook, ensuring the fee earners are prepared in advance for their meetings.

Paralegal Support

You will be responsible for taking initial instructions from the client, ensuring that clients are fully aware of our client care code of conduct.

You will provide guidance throughout all stages of the matter, ensuring that clients are fully appraised of developments as the matters progress.  You will also be responsible for the provision of regular updates to all other professional bodies associated with the matters.

You will be responsible for keeping clients up to date of current costs and for the preparation of bill of costs and financial statements.  You will also be responsible for the provision of information to the accounts department in terms of disbursements, outstanding accounts and bad debts.

The successful candidate will have the ability to deal with internal and external clients courteously and expeditiously, promoting a favourable image of the firm.   The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively as a team and be able to communicate professionally at all levels across the firm.

You will be responsible for the development of your role via marketing and networking events, providing a significant contribution to the fee earning capacity of the firm.

You will be required to ensure that you are fully aware of all legislative changes, practices and procedures relevant to your duties and for the provision of regular updates to your colleagues.  You will also be responsible for your continuous training and development in line with any professional requirements.
